Position: Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic (Gulfport, MS) Scope of Work This position supports the MS Air National Guard in Gulfport, MS. Candidates must obtain clearance to access the airbase, pass a drug test and background check, and satisfy the Government’s background check requirements. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance. Diagnose component failure. Determine the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment. Replace parts that are worn and damaged. Test for leaks and blockage using test and flow testers. Requirements Skill in using and interpreting results of a wide range of diagnostic and test equipment, i.e., engine analyzers, dynamometers, exhaust analyzers, vacuum and fuel pump testers, injector testers, ignition tuners, tachometers, ammeters, and ohmmeters. Ability to use technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides to make repairs and modifications. Familiarity with diagnostic equipment is preferable. A civilian driver’s license is required. Must be physically able to operate the unit’s small forklifts and become certified. Working knowledge of the following computer software: Microsoft Office Suite, Defense Property Accounting System (DPAS) program. Ability to manually lift equipment and components weighing 20 to 60 pounds; occasionally manually lift items weighing 75 pounds and, with assistance or lifting devices, over 100 pounds.
